Well, it has been almost 2 1/2 years since I have posted anything here, so I thought that New Years eve would be a good time to revisit the ol' blog.
A lot has happened since I last updated the site, but the one constant has been, ad is, the goodness of God! Thankfully He never changes. We can always know that He will be just as He presents Himself in His word.
We're going to enter 2015 in just over 10 hours, and the changing of the year is always a good time to evaluate out life to see if we are on track. Dis we accomplish all that we intended for 2014? I doubt that any of us fully achieved our hopes for this year, but hopefully we mad progress! It would be sad if a whole year passed and we hadn't made any progress in this thing called life.
As I think of change I am reminded of the Biblical injunction to grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ ( 2 Peter 3:18). This is the natural progression of simply loving the Lord and spending time with Him as we read His word and talk to Him in prayer. All Christians know that this is needful, but far too often, the cares of this life and the deceitfulness of material things consume so many of our waking hours that we neglect the things that are of eternal importance.
The reality of the matter is that the "things" that we invest so much in are going to decay and pass away. Spiritual pursuits, on the other hand, will accompany us into eternity and be ongoing enrichments that fad not away!
Let's lift our eyes to higher goals for the future!Let's set our hearts on things above, living, loving and laboring for the honor of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
What all will the coming year hold for us? That we cannot answer, but we can each and every one say with the Apostle Paul: "I know Whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day."
