A Pointed Question

I wonder if others notice how the modern church is always trying to come up with novel ideas in hopes of getting the attention of the world at large?

Just over the last few years we have seen the "knock 'em down" revivals, the "holy laughter" revivals, the "shake-rattle-'n-roll" revivals where everyone who is in tune with God "manifests", and a host of other man-made, attendance-driven, ultimately useless attempts to garner crowds!

Beginning in the '70s, entertainment took center stage, and the era of the "Christian celebrity" was born. And, how it has grown! Just peruse "christian" TV and behold the crowds that fill huge venues listen to entertainers whose talents are on a par with celebrities of the world! (And, God help us, many times they are one and the same!).

But where are the soul-searching messages that bring conviction to saint and sinner alike? Where is the dire warning that except one repents, they will suffer the eternal torments of a very real hell? What has happened to silence the clarion call of Holy Scripture that calls people to a life of separation and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord?

Who wants to hear it? After all, we are rich, and increase with goods, and have need of nothing! Why, if the Lord isn't pleased with us, then why are we enjoying so much freedom and prosperity? SO, why not loosen up, and realize that God loves you!

Here is the question referenced in the title of this post: How is it with your soul?

Do you ever take time to get alone with God and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart about your soul-condition? Do you ever examine yourself to know whether or not you are in the faith? Or have you been seduced by the worldly mixture that masquerades as the church today in many quarters?

Do not depend upon the smooth words of a smiling "preacher" telling you of God's love but nothing of His wrath! Do not trust in emotions that are hyper agitated by a high-power "worship service"! Rather, get in God's holy Book! Get alone in His holy presence, and wait there until you can sing with a blessed assurance "It is well with my soul"!

Sound judgmental? Wait until we stand before Him Whose eyes are as flaming fire!

But the great news is that He does not desire to receive us as our Judge, but as our Savior!

He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says unto the Church.
